KEY POINTS:
A new Christian political party has been unveiled.
The Family Party plans to target South Auckland, including the Mangere electorate of independent MP Taito Phillip Field.
Until recently Mr Field and fellow independent MP Gordon Copeland have been in discussions with others about forming a new Christian party, however they are not involved in the new political vehicle launched today.
The Family Party's leader is former Destiny New Zealand boss Richard Lewis, who will stand in Manukau, while Mangere will be contested by Jerry Filipaina.
Mr Lewis said the party will target South Auckland's pro-family Christian voters, who traditionally vote Labour.
Key issues will be the rise in prostitution, street gangs, alcohol and drug abuse.
