Christchurch has been shaken by another aftershock of 4.4 magnitude which struck at 2.05pm today.
It came a day after a 4.1 magnitude aftershock yesterday, and less than a week since a swarm of quakes damaged buildings and caused evacuations in the central business district.
The 4.4 magnitude aftershock struck at a depth of 11 kilometres, 20km west of Christchurch, the same area yesterday's 4.1 quake was centred.
The quake was reported as being felt in the Canterbury region, GNS Science said.
