Another 55 buildings have been added to the Civil Defence's list of quake-damaged buildings that require demolition, partial demolition, or to be made safe.
The additions bring the total number of buildings to be demolished to 231, with another 81 buildings set for partial demolition and 36 needing work to be done to them to be made safe.
Among the latest additions, announced in Christchurch last night, 29 buildings are to be demolished, 14 face partial demolition, and 12, including Mona Vale Homestead and the Regent Theatre in Worcester Street, are required to be made safe.
Of the 29 buildings set for demolition, 29 are heritage buildings. Five heritage buildings are in line for partial demolition, including Lyttelton's iconic Time Ball Station and the Knox Church on Bealey Avenue.
Many of the demolitions have already started or been completed, including the Harbour Light Theatre and Empire Hotel on Lyttelton's main street.
Civil Defence said the situation with building status is "dynamic", and will continue to be so as more information is obtained and buildings are impacted by subsequent aftershocks.
This is reflected in the change of status of some buildings from one release to the next, with the BDO Spicers building, for example, moving from the "critical" to the "make safe" list.
There has been no change in the status of significant buildings, such as the Hotel Grand Chancellor.
The list of additions is current to 15 April inclusive.
