A man who was stung more than 40 times by wasps has been airlifted to Wairarapa Hospital.
The Westpac rescue helicopter landed at Ocean Beach at about 7.30pm on Sunday to collect the Wairarapa man in his early 20s.
Life Flight pilot Mike Beausoleil said the man had been stung more than 40 times around his head and neck.
"He was hunting when he essentially stumbled on a wasp nest when he was in the area near Wharekauhau."
The man was in a stable condition but in a lot of discomfort, Mr Beausoleil said.
