The America's Cup may have dragged on into a third week but Kiwis aren't losing their appetite for watching it.
Team New Zealand's agonising failure to clinch the Cup on Saturday morning was watched by over 1.2 million Kiwis, making it one of TVNZ's most-watched programmes ever.
The network reported that 1,225,000 viewers tuned in to Saturday's first race, which was called off with Team New Zealand leading by over a kilometre and within sight of the finish line when the 40-minute time limit expired.
The vast majority of the audience hung around to watch the Kiwi boat blow a handy position in the re-run, with 1.2 million viewers watching Oracle Team USA take out race 13 to keep the regatta alive. "It's phenomenal, those are big numbers," TVNZ publicist Nicole Wood said.
