Six striking American cars from a period spanning 40 years are among 27 classic vehicles that will go under the hammer in Sydney on May 2.
From the 1920s is a stylish right-hand-drive 1928 LaSalle 314-A seven-seater limousine.
Inspired by Europe's Hispano-Suiza and styled by the famed Harley Earl, the LaSalle was introduced to the market in 1927 by General Motors as a more elaborate "companion brand" to the top-end Cadillac. The example being auctioned is a former wedding car. It is expected to bring A$44,000 to A$50,000 ($58,000 to $67,000).
Also from the 1920s is a fully restored right-hand drive 1925 Dodge Tourer that has been in the hands of the current owner for the past 25 years. Its claim to fame is an appearance in a music video clip for the band INXS. It is expected to fetch about A$16,000.
Two Series 62 Cadillacs are also up for grabs. A left-hand drive 1954 coupe (A$28,000-A$34,000) has new paintwork, new chrome and a new interior.
A 1960 Series 62 factory convertible (A$44,000-A$50,000) was converted to right-hand drive 20 years ago. It has since covered only 32,000km.
Classic Fords are also well represented in the auction, including a black (LHD) 1963 Thunderbird coupe with the desirable "Brocade" premium fabric interior.
The rare "A" code hardtop coupe is powered by the optional four-barrel, 390ci "big-block" V8.
The T-Bird is expected to sell in the A$25,000-A$30,000 range.
For Mustang lovers there's a 1965 "Hertz Replica" Fastback coupe that combines classic style with modern features. The car has been fitted with an EL Ford Fairlane 5-litre V8 EFI engine, with EL cross-flow radiator and twin electric fans, a dual exhaust system with catalytic mufflers, and up-graded disc/drum brakes.
Auction house Shannons expects it to sell in the A$40,000-A$45,000 range.
