A former Auckland ambulance officer has been arrested following allegations he sexually violated a woman while en-route to hospital in his ambulance.
Detective Sergeant Tim Leitch, from Wellington police, said three women had made complaints about the man in relations to incidents dating back to 1999 and 2000 when they were in his care.
The police investigation started in mid 2004 after one of the women made a complaint.
The man was due to appear in Dunedin District Court this afternoon where he faces one charge of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, one charge of attempted sexual violation by unlawful connection, and four charges of indecent assault.
Mr Leitch said the man no longer worked as an ambulance officer.
