A St John Ambulance call log shows the service received only one call from a woman stung dozens of times by wasps after claims she she tried calling 111 numerous times and couldn't get through.
Janet Kelland, 65, was stung up to 150 times last Monday after stepping into a wasp nest on her Taumarunui farm.
She said she called the 111 service about 30 times before getting through.
A St John spokesman said the call log for the event showed the service received only one call from Ms Kelland, which dropped out after seven minutes.
During the call an ambulance was dispatched and the Westpac helicopter was assigned to the job, he said.
