Faustinah Ndlovu aiming to walk 21km with a 20-litre bucket of water on her head
Faustinah Ndlovu thinks she may have a new world record on her hands, but either way she's happy she's made a difference for children in her home country of Zimbabwe.
Ms Ndlovu walked 21km on Saturday with a 20l bucket of water balanced on her head to raise money forher former school, Domboreshato Primary School, in her homeland.
She said the walk went very well and she did it an hour and a half faster than she predicted, completing it in 3 hours and 33 minutes.
Her route started and finished at the Rotorua Lakefront with a team of supporters tagging along.
"I'm still waiting for the whole Guinness World Record process. I'm not sure about their process, but I have much evidence of photos and videos and I will keep my fingers crossed."
"Crossing paths with venomous snakes fetching water was my reality for 25 years in Zimbabwe where I was born and raised," she said on her Givealittle fundraising page.
"I started carrying 20 litres of water on my head when I was only 10 years old."
But, she said the walk was quite challenging since she had been in New Zealand for 14 years and was a bit out of practise - even at home she had never carried 20l of water that far.
