Alternative work spaces are being arranged for hundreds of office workers kicked out of the Asteron building.
The building, which is home to the Inland Revenue, the Civil Aviation Authority, Suncorp and Callaghan Innovation, is the latest to be evacuated following the earthquake.
Civil Aviation staff were at home this morning while senior managers met at the authority's Wellington Airport offices to discuss a plan.
One hundred Callaghan Innovation employees have been moved to its Lower Hutt offices.
They were allowed in last night to grab computers and things they needed.
Spokesman Ian Butler said they were expecting to be out for weeks rather than days.
The 180 Suncorp employees have been told not to come to work for now.
The Inland Revenue Department has refused to comment.
