Alt rockers Cheshire Grimm are to unleash their mad-hatter melodies for the first time in Wairarapa.
The Hamilton-based trio will stage their Wairarapa debut at King Street Live in Masterton on Saturday with support from New Plymouth alternative three-piece Dark Water and Wairarapa four-piece Halafaxa.
Cheshire Grimm was formed about three years ago and fuse dub, grunge, rock and pop. The band features vocalist and guitarist Lora Thompson, bassist and vocalist Kat Waswo and drummer William Kirk, who replaced original beatmaster and keyboardist Dan Yarranton.
The Masterton date will help launch a short Summer Tour for the band, while also celebrating the release of their latest music video, Rot.
The band mounted successful transtasman gigs in Melbourne and are aiming to cement a reputation throughout New Zealand and Australia as "a precise live show with funky rhythms that get audiences involved and dancing", Thompson said.
