Health authorities are investigating an alleged assault on a resident in a Wellington retirement village.
An earlier police investigation into the incident at the Village at the Park proved inconclusive, so Wellington's Capital and Coast District Health Board was now looking into the safety of residents at the rest home, The Dominion Post reported.
It was believed that a staff member allegedly hit a resident and a police complaint was made in February.
It was one of three complaints in six months relating to Village at the Park which has 150 residents in 36 villas, a three-storey apartment block, a 32-bed hospital wing and a 30 bed dementia wing.
In October 2009, the Health Ministry inspected the retirement village and found many breaches of health and disability service standards after a complaint about the care of a patient.
Another complaint, also about the care of a patient, was laid to the health and disability commissioner in March this year.
