The man allegedly beaten by All Black Sione Lauaki last week says he has been receiving threatening text messages and people have been driving past his central-Hamilton apartment yelling abuse since the incident.
The man, a security consultant, was allegedly attacked in the incident on Victoria St opposite the ANZ Bank.
Lauaki, the Chiefs and All Blacks loose forward, is due in court on Thursday facing a charge of common assault.
The alleged victim, who did not want to be identified until the court hearing, said he had an idea who was behind the abuse and texts -- which asked why he wanted to bring down an All Black.
While he was not fearful, it was unfair that he was being targeted, he told the Waikato Times.
"The truth will hopefully come out in court and people can make up their own mind," he said.
