Phillip Layton Edwards has today pleaded not guilty to kidnapping a toddler.
The 33-year-old appeared in Auckland District Court this morning via audio visual link from Mount Eden prison.
A 2-year-old allegedly kidnapped by Edwards was found by police, shirtless and abandoned in a shed at the back of an Auckland property on August 11, after being missing for most of the day.
Edwards and associate Maryanne Nahi, 25, were captured by police in Auckland early this month after being on the run since August.
He also pleaded not guilty to two charges of assaulting a female and to a charge of unlawfully taking a vehicle. No plea was entered for a charge of breaching supervision.
