The man accused of faking psychiatrists qualifications to get a job with the Waikato District Health Board has lost his bid for bail after being caught at Auckland Airport, allegedly trying to catch a one-way flight out of the country.
Mohamed Shakeel Siddiqui was arrested at the airport on December 27 for violating the conditions of his bail.
Siddiqui's counsel, Kerry Burroughs, said his client was intending to go to America for his mother's funeral.
However, he has since discovered that his ill mother is still alive and in India.
Siddiqui reappeared in the Hamilton District Court today asking for bail, after being remanded in custody since his December arrest.
