The 32-year-old female passenger and alleged drug mule involved in a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Yaldhurst Road in Canterbury on Monday has been released from hospital and is being detained by police.
On Monday, officers began a pursuing a silver BMW after it allegedly backed into another vehicle at the junction of Wairakei Rd and Johns Rd, just outside the airport about 4.45pm.
The vehicle fled police before ramming through an armed police roadblock on Yaldhurst Rd and colliding head-on with another car, a Honda Jazz causing injuries to the elderly occupants.
The three elderly patients are still being treated for their injuries at Christchurch Hospital.
