A man bailed to live next to a primary school and kindergarten after being charged with sex attacks on young girls has again been charged with assault on a child.
Dion Selwyn Tau, 42, is due to stand trial next Monday on 17 charges, including abduction with intent to commit unlawful sexual connection, sexual violation and indecent assault, burglary, theft and threatening to kill.
He was granted bail with strict conditions, including having to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, despite strong opposition from the Crown.
Reappearing in Auckland District Court today, it was revealed that Tau has now been charged with assaulting a boy at the address where he was bailed to live.
His alleged victim was understood to be a student at an Auckland intermediate school, which notified Child, Youth and Family.
Tau's lawyer, Heeni Phillips, said her client denied the allegation and requested his bail be continued.
The boy did not live at the address and the accused was under the constant supervision of responsible adults, she said.
Judge Phil Gittos stood down until this afternoon the matter of whether to continue his bail.
