Hadlow preschool in Masterton and South End School in Carterton showcased their pets for their respective schools' pet days yesterday.
South End School's display included chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, lambs, guinea pigs, birds, a lone calf and a large Muscovy duck.
Ribbons were given out to the lucky place holders before all the animals were paraded around the grass.
The animals were generally well behaved, but one stubborn calf at South End School decided enough was enough and refused to budge during the parade.
South End 's pet of the day, voted by the students, went to a puppy.
