KEY POINTS:
In an age of email and cellphones, Santa is still being inundated with old-fashioned letters through the mail.
And judging by the hand-written pleas flooding into New Zealand Post, children's wish lists also reflect traditional childhood Christmas requests - dolls, books, animals, toys and games. Every Christmas, NZ Post gets up to 100,000 letters addressed to Santa. Spokesman Richard MacLean said email to Santa at the company's website was growing but letters were an enduring tradition.
Every email and letter was sent on to Santa. "It would be unfair to say Santa replies personally to each letter. He has many, many elves helping him."
Hopefully, Santa is by now ticking off the lists, but just in case, Louis Moore, 4, went for a touch of bribery: "I will leave you a beer and carrot for reindeers."
