KEY POINTS:
It happened in Orewa, north of Auckland.
A police checkpoint to catch drinking drivers failed to nab a single soul. Everyone tested was alcohol-free.
Inspector Jacqueline Whittaker said last night she was pleased to report a breath-testing checkpoint on Orewa's Grand Drive, the road leading off the end of the Northern Motorway, failed to turn up one drink-driver.
In fact, not one of the 200 to 300 drivers breath-tested over one hour had been drinking.
