KEY POINTS:
The Crown has withdrawn all remaining charges laid against convicted killer Graeme Burton.
The charges, including wounding with intent, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, related to an attack on a Wellington drug dealer.
The incident occurred on January 3, three days before Burton, 36, killed Wainuiomata father-of-two Karl Kuchenbecker in the hills above Lower Hutt.
The Crown said Burton's charges were withdrawn because he is already serving two life sentences with a minimun non-parole period of 26 years.
Burton's co-accused, Scott Elliott, 30, was sentenced to six years in jail this month.
Burton, who appeared in court in April in a wheelchair due to an amputated leg, is believed to be the first New Zealander to have been sentenced to jail twice for murder.
Justice Wild told Burton at his sentencing that his killing spree was comparable to some of the worst murders in New Zealand, like that of William Bell who killed three people in the Mt Wellington RSA and Mark Lundy who killed his wife and child.
Thirty-six-year-old Burton pleaded guilty to the charges which related to an incident in Lower Hutt's eastern hills in January when he was being hunted by police for breaching his parole.
He murdered Mr Kuchenbecker then attacked other mountain bikers before he was shot by police, resulting in part of one of his legs having to be amputated.
