A short lineout of a victory parade up Queen St is likely for the All Blacks on Monday if they win the Rugby World Cup.
Although officials yesterday were staying mum about the parade, for fear of jinxing the Men in Black, the Weekend Herald understands it would start at the waterfront at 2pm and end at Aotea Square.
Organisers of a celebratory Labour Day festival at the Domain, sponsored by Fonterra and the Lottery Grants Board to thank and farewell World Cup visitors, had hoped the All Blacks could join them at 3.30pm for a live link to six associated events around the country.
But that would have stretched policing and traffic management capabilities in a city which has been working overtime to embrace the tournament for the past six weeks.
Large sections of Queen St will be closed for the cup final tomorrow night as an extra fan zone opens in Aotea Square, but Auckland Transport is not disclosing any traffic management plans for the possible victory celebrations.
