KEY POINTS:
All Black Chris Masoe is being investigated by police after an alleged altercation in a New Plymouth bar at Christmas.
New Plymouth Senior Sergeant Selwyn Wansbrough confirmed a complaint had been made and an investigation was under way, but said no one had been arrested.
New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) professional rugby manager Neil Sorensen said the NZRU was not investigating the incident at this stage.
"We are aware of a possible complaint and will await further detail before considering if any action or discussion with Chris is required," he said.
In May, All Black Tana Umaga struck Masoe with a handbag for punching a patron in a Christchurch bar the morning after Hurricanes lost the Super 14 final to Crusaders.
Masoe was fined $3000 by the NZRU for serious misconduct. Umaga was found to have no case to answer.
The handbag, belonging to a woman patron in the bar, was later auctioned on Trade Me for just under $23,000.
The Taranaki Daily News reported today that the latest alleged altercation was with a barmaid at New Plymouth's Crowded House Bar in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Crowded House co-owner Doc van Praagh said a barmaid had refused to serve an intoxicated Masoe.
Mr van Praagh said he was not aware of any physical assault and the bar had no problem with Masoe as he was not "rolling drunk".
Masoe's manager Bruce Sharrock said the allegations sounded trivial and the media should be careful after recent allegations against a fellow All Black turned out to be untrue.
