Highlanders halfback Jimmy Cowan is to appear in Dunedin District Court this week on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Cowan, 26, was arrested on Sunday morning, after his side lost to the Blues in Dunedin on Saturday night.
He is tipped to be an All Blacks contender and coach Graham Henry said yesterday he was disappointed at what had happened and "rugby doesn't need that sort of thing".
The incident comes a few weeks after Highlanders winger Lucky Mulipola was convicted of assault and driving while disqualified.
