KEY POINTS:
The idea of waiting a lifetime, in the snow, for a man, is something that would make most women shudder. But as an inspiration for hair and makeup in a runway show, it's an idea I can appreciate.
Alexandra Owen's striking graphic clothes, inspired by old world romanticism, deserved a beauty palette to match, and boy did the teams deliver.
"Coolness, stillness and the icy acidity of winter" were the buzz words with the makeup team. It didn't mean anything to me, but it definitely didn't get lost in translation with the team who conjured up snow packed eyes and brows, glistening skin and blotted out nude lips.
The only lively effect was a punch of lime across the crease of the eyes, it was a soft focus in a strong colour that bought the face to life.
Head hair stylist Lucy Vincent-Marr was wary of referencing the theme too directly when it came to the hair; the clothing is bold and strong, so anything too stylised or big wouldn't work. Instead she went with a simple, austere ponytail. Making the texture gritty kept it edgy and modern and pieces of hair falling around the face prevented it from looking too done.
Like the lifetime of waiting, this look is not something women will strive to emulate. But at Fashion Week, it's one of the best uses of the three we've seen.
