KEY POINTS:
Police are investigating a claim that a pupil at a girls' school was indecently assaulted by a group of girls while getting ready for sports practice.
Students at Westlake Girls High School in Takapuna have been warned to watch for strangers on the school grounds.
The junior student told police she was getting changed for sports practice on Tuesday afternoon when she saw up to five Asian girls peering into her cubicle.
She told them to leave, but when she came out they were waiting for her. One grabbed her bag and the others grabbed her chest and groin.
The girl screamed, hit one of her attackers and ran back to the cubicle.
It is believed two of the girls may have been senior students at the school, and the others associates or friends.
Westlake principal Alison Gernhoefer was last night reluctant to discuss details of the assault, and would confirm only that students had been warned to keep an eye out for strangers.
