KEY POINTS:
Dunedin police are warning woman to monitor their alcohol intake and ensure their personal safety on nights out after two unrelated sex attacks over the weekend.
In the first attack a 20-year-old woman was forced into Blacket Lane, between Moray Place and George Street, and sexually violated about 4.45am Saturday.
The woman was attacked by a man she met earlier than night at an inter-city bar, Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken told the Otago Daily Times.
One person witnessed "at least part" of the attack and the man was last seen running along George St and turning west into St Andrew St, he said.
The offender was described as a male Caucasian about 25 years old, 180cm tall and of skinny, muscular build with long straight brown hair.
He was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
A second woman, also 20, was attacked at a South Road address about 5.30am yesterday after she "befriended" a man while walking home from town with another woman.
Mr Aitken said one of the women was attacked and sexually violated.
He said the male offender was a Caucasian in his early 20s, with shoulder length brown hair.
He was wearing a light brown top and dark trousers.
Mr Aitken said woman needed to take care when out drinking in town.
"All we can do is warn people, and advise people, to look after their personal safety.
"To be aware of what they are drinking, or how much they are drinking, and be able to look after themselves...
"Be aware of where you are and what you are doing at all times," he said.
