Staff working at a building in Auckland Airport were evacuated this afternoon after a contractor severed a gas line.
The contractor had been working on road works about 1km from the terminal, in an industrial area of the airport, when the gas pipe was accidentally severed about 2pm, Auckland Airport spokesman Andrew Pirie told NZPA.
The workers in one building were evacuated, but there had been no disruption to airport operations, passengers or traffic, he said.
The problem was resolved within the hour without issue, Mr Pirie said.
