Travellers with laptop computers should get through airport security more quickly from next week.
At present they have to unzip their bags for physical inspection but from Monday most will be able to get through with just x-rays.
Aviation Security Service general manager Mark Everitt said his staff had become more experienced at reading the "opaque" x-ray images made by laptops.
Laptops packed with other items might still be inspected manually.
