The man who allegedly attacked "shock jock" Iain Stables at Auckland Airport is facing assault charges.
Jetstar has launched an investigation into the fight between Stables and its check-in employee on Saturday. The worker, who allegedly had to be pulled off Stables by airport security, has been stood down.
He spent Saturday night in custody, faced Manukau District Court yesterday and was remanded to appear on Friday.
Stables said he could not give any more details about the case. He said he suffered concussion and spent Saturday night in a Wellington hospital after catching another flight to the capital.
Jetstar spokesman Gerard Blank retracted earlier comments to the Herald in a press release that the brawl started after Stables missed a flight. "Given the ongoing nature of the investigation, the airline is not in a position to comment on the reason for the incident ... any past comment is retracted."
The Radio Network's programming and marketing manager, David Brice, said Stables was expected to be back on air on Radio Hauraki next Monday.
On Sunday, Stables told the Herald the fight broke out after he arrived three minutes late for his flight and the employee would not let him board.
A witness said Stables provoked the worker, who leaped over the counter at the radio host. Airport police declined to comment.
