An Australian MP has revealed the case of a man who revceived a substantial out-of-court settlement from an unnamed airline after almost dying from a blood clot during a flight from Asia to Australia.
Neil O'Keefe, who is MP for Burke, Victoria, said the payment proves the airline had known about the deadly "economy class syndrome" for some time, but failed to act.
The MP also wants airlines to remove the last row of seating on planes and install walking machines.
He believes airlines have not done enough to warn passengers of the dangers of long flights.
