An Air Force sergeant injured his ankle when a parachute landing went wrong on a west Auckland beach last night.
A Defence Force spokeswoman said the incident happened during routine training over Muriwai Beach about 10.15pm.
The man had jumped out of a C-130 Hercules aircraft and landed in the drop zone but rolled on his ankle.
It was not clear what went wrong, the spokeswoman said.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter and St John Ambulance staff were called and the man was taken to North Shore Hospital with moderate injuries.
