New policy for the country's future air navigation and air traffic planning has been released.
Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee today launched the national air space policy which sets out the the objectives for the aviation industry's future development.
"It will also provide opportunities to improve the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations, integrate airspace planning with decisions on land use and ensure the appropriate regulatory requirements are sound, coherent, and stable," Mr Brownlee said.
The policy was developed by the Ministry of Transport with the Civil Aviation Authority and an advisory group, which included representatives of major airlines, recreational aviation interest groups, and the New Zealand Defence Force.
