An Air New Zealand flight made an emergency landing in Palmerston North today .
Palmerston North International Airport operations manager Roy Bodell said the airport went into emergency response about 12pm for a Q300 aircraft after reports of an engine fire.
"The aircraft landed safely, there was no fire in the engine and it taxied to the terminal where they disembarked," he said.
Air New Zealand released a statement saying the flight, which had departed from Napier and was headed for Wellington, had been diverted to Palmerston North after an engine shutdown and a warning indicator light came on.
The 33 passengers onboard had been accommodated on an alternate service.
The aircraft was currently being inspected.
