A former Air New Zealand flight attendant has been charged with importing methamphetamine.
The 49-year-old was arrested at Auckland Airport on May 15, police said tonight. He appeared at the Manukau District Court, where he was granted interim name suppression. He will be back in court in late July.
Air New Zealand confirmed tonight that the man no longer worked for the airline, but denied he had been fired, as was reported earlier.
He had allegedly attempted to smuggle in the drug sewn into his uniform while on duty and was made to hand over his uniform during a meeting with his manager at a McDonald's carpark, Prime News reported.
