With pink feather boas, drag queens and cocktails, Air New Zealand is getting into the spirit of Australia's annual gay festival, the Sydney Mardi Gras.
A pink themed flight, dubbed the Flight of Fairies, is set to leave Auckland Airport at 3pm on March 2, hosted by drag queens Buckwheat, Miss Ribena, Bambi and Venus Mantrap.
Air New Zealand retail advertising manager Sandy Butler said passengers would be adorned with a pink boa at the check-in counter then offered pink canapes and cocktails at the departure lounge.
On board the Boeing 767 a pink-themed menu would be served and there would be entertainment, spot prizes and fairy treats, she said.
With surprises in store, passengers would be well and truly ready for a party by the time they reach Sydney, Ms Butler said.
Flight service manager Karen McLeod said the crew was excited about the flight and planning their involvement in the festivities.
"It's going to be a lot of fun for us working on a flight that's so pink, lively and a little bit risque."
