A flight from Auckland to Bali has had to turn back part way through its journey due to an engineering issue.
Air New Zealand flight NZ245 returned to Auckland this afternoon, a spokeswoman said.
"As the aircraft is also now required to undergo a lightning strike inspection, the flight has been delayed and we are currently working through re-accommodation with customers."
She said the flight returned because of the engineering issue, but it may have sustained a lightning strike as well, which was why it needed to be checked.
It turned around about an hour after takeoff.
