Air Force search in Tonga

A Royal NZ Air Force Orion is flying to the Vava'u islands in Tonga after an emergency beacon signal was reported yesterday afternoon.

Maritime New Zealand spokesman Steve Corbett the aircraft was expected to arrive in the area by mid-morning.

Ships had been unable to locate the source of the signal.
