A New Zealand air force Hercules remains on standby in Darwin after taking a severely burned Balinese woman there yesterday morning.
Major Jules Lovelock, public affairs officer at Defence Force joint headquarters, said the Hercules arrived at Darwin with the patient at 4am yesterday.
The woman is in intensive care at the Royal Darwin Hospital now. A second Balinese bomb victim was to make the flight but died on the way to the Denpasar airport.
Maj Lovelock said the Hercules was at the ready for more patient lifts or freight transportation.
"They're available to do that.
"The detail of the tasking is operated by the Australian Defence Force, they're at their disposal."
