Fundraising for flying sometimes means a lot of footwork.
That was the case for nine cadets from 21 squadron Air Training Corps Masterton, who walked from Featherston to Masterton on Saturday to raise money for flying lessons.
They departed Featherston at 8am with two support vehicles, and had to maintain a pace of 6-7km/h over the 37km distance. One of the walkers, Flight Sergeant Isaac Milne, said the squadron had been doing it annual for three years.
"It's pretty hard, particularly on the Featherston straights," he said. His best advice to the younger cadets was "just keep walking".
The unit commander, Flying Officer Karen Stevens, was driving the rear support vehicle.
