An aggrieved postal worker, who tried to settle a score with her superiors by stealing items pre-Christmas, was sentenced to community work today.
Doris Janine Moser, 46, stole the items, mainly Christmas cards and small articles, after a dispute with her employer, New Zealand Post, Christchurch District Court was told.
Defence counsel Simon Clay said she had frankly admitted the crime and made no attempt to avoid responsibility.
He said she had written apology letters to all the complainants and had offered to repay all losses incurred in full even though her chances of future employment had been severely hampered by her actions.
Judge Bernard Kendall said: "This was a misconceived way of getting the problem solved between you and your employer."
Moser was ordered to do 60 hours' community work and pay reparations of $971.60.
