Two aftershocks have hit the Canterbury region this morning, GNS Science reported.
The first, a 3.5 magnitude quake, hit at 3.12am and was centred 10km south-west of Christchurch at a depth of 10km.
GNS Science said it was likely felt in central Canterbury.
The second, a 3.8 magnitude tremor, struck at 6.20am, 20 km west of Darfield at a depth of 12km.
It was reportedly felt in the Hororata area.
