Police want information after a young woman was sexually assaulted in the Wellington suburb of Naenae on Wednesday afternoon.
Detective Constable Paula Harris of the Lower Hutt CIB said the victim was walking home near the Daysh Street Bridge at about 3.30pm when she was attacked from behind.
"The offender was armed with a knife and sexually assaulted the victim. He was last seen heading down Cambridge Terrace towards Epuni."
The offender is described as a Maori in his twenties, with a fit, bulky build. He was described as wearing baggy dark pants, a long green jacket to mid thigh, fingerless gloves and a bandanna across his mouth.
"The victim was understandably shaken and upset after the ordeal and police would appreciate any information that may assist in locating her attacker."
