An unsuccessful aerial search for the two fishermen missing near Doubtful Sound was held yesterday - a week and a half after the pair went missing - and it is likely the case will now be referred to the coroner.
Bruce Gordon, 42, and Darren Allen, 37, were last heard from on April 30 and were pronounced missing the next day when the wreckage of their boat, the K-Cee, was found floating off Doubtful Sound.
After a delayed start yesterday due to poor weather, a helicopter search began at 10am and was carried out off the Fiordland coastline from Dagg Sound to Nancy Sound.
Weather conditions cleared and were good for the flight, but nothing of significance was found, Western Southland Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley said.
A small search on foot was also carried out in the vicinity of where part of the bow of the K-Cee was located, south of Rocky Point.
