The SPCA was given 14 pigeons in September after their previous owner became dismayed at the rate they were breeding. Now there are six left and looking for a nice owner to feed them and let them spread their wings.
Staff say to keep the pigeons in a reasonable-sized aviary for four weeks to get them used to where they are living otherwise they will fly straight back to the SPCA.
After four weeks they can be letout and will come back at night for food.
If you are interested in adopting the pigeons or any other animals, call the Auckland SPCA on (09) 256 7300 or visit their website www.spca.org.nz
