Addict grateful for his arrest

Former Oamaru man Toby John Richards says he is grateful for his arrest and his remand in custody as a chance to get over his drug addiction.

Yesterday, he began a jail sentence of one year and seven months for nine Christchurch house burglaries committed in October and November.

He took $24,000 worth of property to support his addiction.
