The Black Widow's son has appeared via video link in the Christchurch District Court.
25-year-old Adam Kearns is the son of Helen Milner, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of her husband in 2009.
Kearns is accused of having drugs in his system and dangerous driving causing death.
He allegedly crashed his car into two parked cars killing his friend Nicholas Morrison last year, and seriously injuring another.
He has been remanded in custody to reappear in January.
