Streets were briefly cordoned off in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden today following reports of an armed gunman in the area.
Tourist buses were ordered off the Mt Eden summit while police investigated.
Inspector Earl MacIntosh said the cordons were lifted after police found the reports were unfounded.
The alleged gunman was in fact an actor rehearsing a scene.
There were no arrests and access to Mt Eden has been reopened.
