Act leader David Seymour hoping Rachel Morton 'the one'

Act leader David Seymour says he might have found "the one" - but he has to cross the political divide.

Seymour is in a relationship with former TV3 reporter Rachel Morton - now working as senior adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Paula Bennett.

The couple have recently rekindled their romance, Seymour revealed in an interview for the Herald's election series Leaders Unplugged: Eight parties in eight days.

"We've broken up twice, so third time lucky," Seymour said.

"She has enormous self-belief and drive. She is really funny and has the ability to make me laugh, which is really good."

Leaders Unplugged launched in the Weekend Herald and continues all week.

The series sees Herald journalists spend time with the leaders of the major political parties away from politics.

Seymour, 34, also revealed his mother made a DVD for his future partner before she died of cancer 10 years ago.

But, he said, he had not watched it.

He said he would like to settle down and have a family of his own. He hopes Morton might be "the one" but they are taking things slowly.
