The most talked about team in Netball Wairarapa's premier one competition will face their acid test tomorrow.
Kuranui College have grabbed the headlines by winning four of their five games to date but whether they can be the first side to inflict a defeat on defending champions Harcourts 1 remains to be seen.
This match at the Colombo road courts will be a classic case of youth versus experience with Harcourts sure to employ tactics aimed at negating any advantage Kuranui might have in speed and agility.
Harcourts are past masters at frustrating their opposition into making mistakes and they will be looking to dominate the midcourt so that the dangerous Kuranui shooters have to rely on scraps to keep their side in the hunt. In Kuranui's favour is the fact that like Harcourts they are already assured of a place amongst the top six sides to contest the main championship and therefore they can afford to play a high-risk style of netball which will at least give the Harcourts defence something to think about. Other premier one games at the Colombo road courts tomorrow see Harcourts 2 playing Wairarapa College and St Matthews Collegiate up against Gladstone All Blacks. Even though this season has been a struggle for them Wairarapa College should win easily enough but everything points to the St Matthews v All Blacks game being a thriller. Both have had three wins from five matches and need victory here to boost their chances of a top six finish at the end of the preliminary round.
At the Gensisis Recreation Centre in Masterton tonight Celtic 1 will be expected to have the wood on Salute Greytown and Sports Arena Carterton likewise over Carterton Red.
